Survey Report
on the Identification of the Needs and Expectations of AFA
Member Bodies
As the ASEAN
region grows rapidly and strives to become a common market,
it is also important for the accountancy profession to keep
abreast with the latest global developments and continuously
reinvent itself in the process. All around the region each
ASEAN national accountancy bodies is faced with this
challenge through issues such as the implementation of
IFAC’s Statement of Membership Obligations (SMOs), adoption
of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as
well as continuously developing their own members.
In line with the AFA objectives and its 2006-2007 AFA
Strategic Plan Points, a needs assessment survey was
conducted to identify the needs and expectations of the AFA
member bodies. The report to the survey was subsequently
published in January 2008.
The report to the survey contains inputs on the demographic
background of the national accounting institutes of the AFA
member bodies, the extent of the implementation of the
International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Statements of
Membership Obligations (SMOs) and continuing professional
development courses.
