Cambodia KICPAA admitted as IFAC Associate Member
The
Kampuchea Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
Auditors (KICPAA) of Cambodia is now an Associate Member of
the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). This was
approved at the IFAC Council Meeting held on 12-13 November
2008 in Rome, Italy. KICPAA is the national body for the
accounting profession in Cambodia. KICPAA represent its
members, promotes and defends its statute and interest of
the profession.
The Compliance staff in making their assessment had
concluded that since KICPAA’s establishment on 2003, it has
made significant and useful progress in terms of its core
activities, its financial position, and representation of
the profession. Cambodia was previously not represented in
IFAC and including KICPAA as an Associate will encourage the
body to further develop the profession on the country.
Although KICPAA is still building its capacity and
strengthening its activities, its responsiveness to
developing its core activities suggest that it is
demonstrating best endeavours at an Associate level.
Having been approved as an Associate, KICPAA will be
required to participate in the Compliance Programme and
develop an Action Plan to bring about further improvements
to this developing profession.

KICPAA's CPA exams
KICPAA has submitted to the World Bank the action plan for
the national CPA exams. Normally the first grant to
implement this gigantic project will be put available before
the end of this year.
Works of the committees
During this quarter the CPD committee has organized
successfully two sessions of training within the framework
of mandatory CPD programme. The enthusiasm of participants
during these sessions is very encouraging for the
sustainability of the CPD.
Other Cooperation
Within the framework of CPA Australia’s International
Partnership Program, KICPAA has received again two
scholarships for the first selection 2009. With this
respect, they have selected two promising candidates to join
the program (from February to May 2009). KICPAA wishes them
good luck and hopes that they will bring us back to the
country joy and pride.
