Press Release – ASEAN Federation of Accountants Launches Its 2009 Annual Report

Bangkok, Thailand - The ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) launched its 2009 Annual Report during the 100th AFA Council Meeting which was held in Bangkok, Thailand at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit recently.

Speaking at the launch, AFA President Abdul Rahim Hamid mentioned that the publishing of the AFA Annual Report is done as part of AFA's ongoing efforts to increase its organizational transparency as well as to keep its stakeholders and the general public informed of its activities and achievements throughout the year.

"During the past year, there was a concerted effort by AFA to engage with its international counterparts, among other activities. Among those AFA reached out to were the International Federation of Accountants’ Compliance Advisory Panel and Developing Nations Committee as well as the Asian Development Bank ASEAN Secretariat."

Rahim, who assumed the AFA Presidency at the turn of the year, said that AFA will continue with similar engagement over the coming year as well as looking into ways it could enhance its value proposition both its member bodies and its stakeholders.

The AFA Annual Report is available in soft copy format to the public on the AFA website, http://www.aseanaccountants.org/reports.htm. Printed copies of the Annual Report will also be distributed to all AFA stakeholders as well as any interested parties.
