To provide an organisation for ASEAN Accountants for the further advancement of the status of the profession in the region with the view to establishing an ASEAN philosophy on the accounting profession.
Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants (IAI) - previously the Indonesian Institute of Accountants was established in 23 December 23 1957 in Jakarta as the recognised accountancy professional body in Indonesia. IAI has the vision to be a leading professional organisations in the development of knowledge and practice of accounting, business management and public, oriented to ethics and social responsibility, and the environment in national and international perspective. To support its vision IAI is committed to development of the Indonesian Accounting Standards and implement sustained improvement competency of its members through workshops, seminars in accounting, finance and taxation.
On international scale, IAI is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) since 1997. Within ASEAN, IAI became a founding member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) and since 2011 has been recognised as the permanent secretariat of AFA. With more than 15.000 members, consisiting of Utama (full membership, registered accountants and work professionally as accountant), Madya (registered accountants or graduated from accounting major but not yet fulfill the requirements of Utama) and Muda (students majoring in accountancy), IAI continues to play its part in the development of the profession in Indonesia, South East Asian, and also at the global level.
